How Long Does The Pet Transportation Process To The United Arab Emirates Take?
Although the flights to the United Arab Emirates might only take a number of hours, planning for your pet’s trip can actually take several months to complete. This is because of the very strict pet importation restrictions and scheduling requirements the United Arab Emirates has in place. To avoid disappointment, we recommend contacting us at least one month before you’d like your pet to fly out.

UAE REQUIREMENTS
Below are the requirements for pet entry into the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but pets travelling to the UAE must have an approved import permit and a valid rabies vaccination within the required timeframe before departure. Our pet travel consultants are familiar with the regulations set out by the UAE authorities, so we can help guide you through the application process.
Dogs
- Only 2 pets per person are allowed to be imported
- Dogs must be at least 4 months old
- Microchip implanted
- Export Veterinary Inspection
- Export Paperwork finalisation
- Leptospirosis Blood Test within 30 days of flying (Leptospira canicola and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae for dogs)
- Internal & External Parasite Treatment – within 14 days of departure
Cats
- Only 2 pets per person are allowed to be imported
- Cats must be at least 4 months old
- Microchip implanted
- Export Veterinary Inspection
- Export Paperwork finalisation
- Internal & External Parasite Treatment – within 14 days of departure
Vaccines
- C3 vaccine and rabies for dogs
- F3 vaccine and rabies for cats
- General vaccinations should be at least 14 days old before export
- Rabies vaccinations given at a minimum of 3 months of age
- Should be done at least 21 days before export
- Vaccines must be no more than 1 year old.
