Dogtainers Darwin Team Bio

Christina Tankard – Darwin Manager

Christina has been working at Dogtainers for over 6 years. She’s been managing the Darwin team and facility where she lives on site with her family. She has 3 dogs, Whippet Lilly, Greyhound Gemma, and Foxi Missy. She feels very lucky to be running the kennel and cattery, with different types of pets staying, and she also loves the Darwin community, their stories, and characters.

Megan Schafer

Megan joined the Dogtainers Darwin team 2 years ago. Before joining the team, she was an apprentice boilermaker/welder. During her time with Dogtainers, she has expanded her knowledge of domestic animal transport and upskilled in customer service. Her love and experience with animals have grown over the years from housesitting with different pets, great and small, and to now especially helping customers move their babies. Having grown up with grandparents who bred toy poodles, she learnt a lot from them and, of course, has a little girl of her own.

Ally Baker

Ally has been a pet travel consultant with the team for 2 years. She has 2 dogs, Marley and Otis. She has been living in Darwin for 8 years and loves the territory. Before joining the team, she was an office all-rounder for 40 years, where she enjoyed a wide variety of exposure to different working environments. Ally is a star on the phone and takes pride in her work of helping customers move their fur babies.

Rebecca Petterson

Meet Bec, a proud born-and-bred local who loves the beautiful outdoor lifestyle that NF can offer. When she’s not working, you may find her camping, hunting, fishing & hanging out by the pool. She has a menagerie of animals, two horses, two cats, and three dogs at home that also keeps us very busy. She enjoys working at Dogtainers NT, where she gets to be outside and hang out with the most amazing assortments of creatures ranging from dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and anything else in between. She also admires her co-workers and their commitment to the care and comfort of the animals.

Why You Should Choose Dogtainers

There are four different categories recognised by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. The categories are based on the rabies risks of animals coming from these countries. Cats and dogs from approved countries are allowed to enter, provided all the veterinary requirements are met.

We are Australia’s largest owner-operated pet transport network and the only pet travel company to have our own offices and staff located in every state in Australia, including the Northern Territory.

Dogtainers has been operating for 50 years, and we import thousands of pets into Australia every year.

For smaller puppies and cats, we have fully air-conditioned indoor areas for them. The caretaker lives on site, so the pets are always looked after.

The location is conveniently located near Darwin’s best attractions and National Parks. The team also looks after the Defence of Darwin for boarding and other pets transported, including Tindal and Katherine.
