Career Pathways: A Chat With Our People

I’ve been with Dogtainers for over 4 years now and when applying for Dogtainers had never held an office job. I walked into the office on my first day hesitant and walked out questioning to myself if I would be able to do this job. I always push myself to grow and roll with any challenges that I face so I kept turning up every day applying myself. I always had the growing support of every person around me to help me drive myself to success. In the beginning I was nervous to collect a phone call with the unknown of what was on the other end.

The employee culture and environment within the office has allowed me to overcome any duties that came my way that faced extreme challenges. Four years on from my first day I currently am in a position where I manage the whole Domestic department,

What typical challenges arise?

Nervous pets who aren’t happy to be crated, however, with help from colleagues and encouragement with food, this is managed well. Manual handling, for example, large dogs where multiple people are required to lift crates. Heatwaves and storms call for extra communications due to airport shutdowns, rescheduled flights and wind and rain.
